  • How does it work?
To achieve your Skills section with Let's Cook French, you need to buy the number of modules relevant to your DofE timescale. - Once purchased, Sign Up to the website and have your recipes and tutorial videos available to you. - Read carefully the introduction to our course, with specific information ensuring you will cook safely in your kitchen. - Choose the recipe you'd like to start with and buy all the ingredients to prepare it at home. - Follow the recipe and or video to make a delicious savoury or sweet French dish for your loved one. - Send us back the feedback questionnaire with pictures of your dish. - We'll check in with you weekly, and follow up on your progress. - At the end of the module, we'll send the assessor's report to the DofE.
  • Do you cater for vegetarians or people with gluten allergy?
Yes, we cater for vegetarians, as all our recipes have a vegetarian option. For gluten allergies, we might try to find alternatives, but it might not be possible for all recipes involved. Contact us if you have any other dietary requirements. We will strive to provide you with an alternative.
  • Do I need to buy a lot of equipment to make the recipes?
All you will need are basic cooking tools, generally found in any kitchen such as: - Any type of small, medium and large bowls - Wooden spatula and spoon - Chopping board - Paring or utility knives - Pans and frying pans - Oven-proof dishes - Oven mitts - Colander or sieve - Round, rectangular, or square cake moulds - Cupcake moulds - Baking paper and cling film - Hand whisk or electric whisk - Timer (you can use a phone timer) - A weighing scale is ideal for pastry recipes. These essentials will help you cook the delicious dishes provided in the modules.
  • I'm registered for the DofE. Do I have to do the recipes in a specific order?
You can complete the recipes in any order you like. However, we strongly encourage you to start with the introductory information regarding health and safety in the kitchen (called step 1). This will ensure your cooking journey starts on the right foot!
  • What happens if I miss a week of cooking for my DofE?
Participants need to carry out one recipe weekly to keep a regular and steady pace to finish their module within the timeframe specified by the DofE programme. For example, if you have chosen a 3-month module with us for your Bronze or Silver DofE, then it is your responsibility to make one recipe per week for the next 3 months. It can be done on the day that suits your schedule best. If you miss a week because you're having a busy week at school or are away on holiday and cannot cook, try to fit in the missed recipe the following week to stay on track. We understand there are times when it might not be possible. Contact us if you foresee any issues.
  • How long do I have access to the course?
If you have purchased a module to discover French cuisine, you will have lifetime access (meaning as long as the course is live) to both the documents and videos. If you have purchased a module (or more) in the context of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, we will send you the pdf of all relevant recipes at the end of the timeframe, for you to keep preciously.
  • I've made a mistake and haven't bought enough modules to complete my DofE Skills programme. Do I have to pay the full price for an additional module?
No problem! Just send us an email with your name and which module you would like to add and we'll apply the multi-module discount to your purchase.
